The Mission of the Export Controls Training and Conference is to help attendees understand the impact of legislative changes on their business. Attendees learn from experienced professionals on how to manage the risk of working with export-controlled technology whilst implementing best practices to uplift compliance.
Two Days of Learning
Day One: Learn how US and Australian export controls can be complied with in practical ways that strive towards best-practice. Understand how updates to the ITAR, EAR and AU export controls influence your commercial contracts and hiring practices. Hear from expert about risk management, staff management, technology security, and other considerations you must consider when working with ITAR, EAR and AU export-controlled technology. Day One is Advanced Training on Export Controls. Our presenters and panelists will offer insights on both pitfalls and best practices for organisations large, small and in between. Suitable for both industry and Commonwealth staff. Please note that no ‘basic training’ on export controls is offered at this event. Click here for basic training.
Day Two: Hear from US and AU Government representatives about how reforms to export controls have been implemented and what we can expect in 2025. Experts, insiders and your peers will present on the challenges of complying with export-controls and what we can do better as Australian industry to work with Government and one another when managing export-controlled technology.

Who Should Attend?
This annual event brings industry and Commonwealth staff together to discuss changes to export controls, access controls, workforce management and security requirements.
It is an opportunity for SMEs working in the defence industry to understand how the landscape is evolving in the space of export controls and security. Whether your company will participate in AUKUS contracts or not, the legislation has a significant impact on the way you do business. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to manage the complexities.

Which Days?
Day 1– Engage in a hands-on training experience designed for both industry, academic, and Commonwealth professionals to master export controls. Through case studies and practical exercises, you’ll explore recent regulatory updates and learn how to address complex compliance challenges. Perfect for those looking to deepen their expertise and develop effective strategies for navigating export controls.
Day 2– Join a conference-style day with presentations and panel discussions from industry experts and government representatives, focusing on the impacts of recent legislative reforms. This day is tailored for C-Suite executives, General Counsels, Export Controls Officers, Commercial Managers, and other decision-makers, providing the latest insights and best practices for implementing compliance frameworks in your organisation.
For SMEs
The Export Controls Training and Conference is an opportunity to:
• Ask experts on US, UK and AU export controls about how to comply with the legislation in a budget-friendly way.
• Learn how IT, security and export controls work together and how evolving standards will affect your ability to tender.
• Learn how primes and the Commonwealth expect you to be able to work with them in managing controlled technology.
