Get up to date on U.S. and Australian Export Controls

Day One – Basic Training

Day one of this event is a workshop that will allow industry and Commonwealth staff to receive a full day of basic training on the ITAR, EAR and Australian export controls. The workshop is facilitated by Eva Galfi from International Trade Advisors and Shashank Ramakrishna of SAHR. Ms. Galfi will provide the industry perspective and Mr. Ramakrishna the Commonwealth perspective, on managing export controlled technology. Our exercises and discussions aim to provide a solid foundation for attendees who manage defence assets amongst industry and defence.

Presentations will include common scenarios and issues that arise when working with the Commonwealth, Primes and SMEs in managing ITAR and EAR controlled technology.

If you are a seasoned practitioner, you may not wish to attend Day One. You may wish to join for the networking dinner at 7PM.

A networking dinner is organised for 7PM as an opportunity to relax, network and discuss the day’s events. Dinner fee $99 (GST Included)

Day Two – Advanced Training

The second day of this course will cover advanced topics. The presentations have been developed with the seasoned practitioner in mind and assume a solid knowledge of export controls as presented on Day One.

We will begin with a presentation from IEC on how the trilateral partnership between the US, UK and Australia will change export controls requirements. Next, we will have an update on legislative changes in the U.S. that are not AUKUS related. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on how these changes may affect the Australian defence industry.

We will then hear about what it is like to experience a government audit and how to prepare for one. Before lunch, we will also offer presentations on TFSD.

Following this session, we will offer a session on best practices for the management of export controlled technology, including a panel discussion about the challenges of managing such technology.

To conclude the day, we will have a Q&A with all panelists and presenters.

Day 2 networking drinks will take place from 5PM to 7PM at Malt Shovel Taphouse, in conjunction with DIN. (https://maltshoveltaphouse.com.au/our-venues/)
